On the Spanish keyboard you have to use the ñ key.
Tilde worked on my Mac. I made my arc and did not release and pushed the ~ and made my design. Thanks for the info!! edited to add that it also works with squares, circles, lines, etc….

Do what you see in the video while keeping pressed the "@" key (valid for Windows + Italian keyboard layout). Just find the same symbol on your layout!
It doesn't work using the tilde key but as someone below has already mentioned, it does work if you use the @ key next to it.
