I enjoyed your video very much. It include a good selection of food and interesting shops. Its what we were looking for. My wife and I just returned from a relaxing trip in Penang. I can't do wonderful videos. I'm also no foodie. My taste is old school, not necessarily Michelin Star. But as a marker, the Pitt Street Kuay Teow Tng was really good for my taste. I never imagined plain looking soup could taste so good. Please allow me to contribute by giving a shout out to two stalls that I enjoyed but never featured anywhere.Hopefully your viewers will also enjoy.
The first is a goreng pisang stall next to the famous Ali Nasi Lemak stall at Lebuh Pantai. Go for the chempedak. It was deep fried to golden brown, sweet and even the seed can be eaten. Everyone's attention is on the nasi lemak. This stall is right next to it. Enjoy the nasi and also give the chempedak a try. I did.
The other is a youtiao / hum chim peng stall recently started by a young brother and sister team. It's next to a popular Taiwan shaved ice stall and shares the same address: 166 Lebuh Carnarvon (same landlord who subdivided the property). This is at the junction with Lebuh Kimberly. It can also be reached from Armenian street. Just across the road from the Armenian Street Heritage Hotel. It was a good respite for us as we chanced upon it after touring Armenian Street. Enjoyed chatting with Cat while snacking on simple youtiao and fresh soya bean drink. Cat and her bro keep the place neat and clean. Old school. You tiao has a nice hint of saltiness to it that I prefer.
Penang was relaxing and enjoyable. Its not just for the excellent food. It is also the friendliness of the many people we encountered everywhere we went. From Ravindran, the Grab driver at the airport who taught me a few things on how to better use the app (I'm a novice) to Cindy, the pharmacist who walked us to the durian seller and introduced me as her "Godson". And then there was this kind, senior gentleman who approach us while we were eating durian (and bantering with the seller and his other customers). Learning we're from Singapore, he came over to chat and shared he has a classmate who is also living in Singapore, Jurong West. Wished I had more time to chat with him.
