It depends with the university/ Department actually. Some program curricular are curated around the research done in that Department. Biochemistry for me was more Biology than chemistry. We spent a lot of time on the principles behind the techniques, applications of Biochemistry in industry, research trends, heavy on the Genetics, cancer biology, molecular cell biology etc. It depends with the school so always check before choosing.
Biochem is purely a branch of biology not chemistry… Biochemists should not have a high knowledge on chemistry…. Here you are going to learn chemistry of biology…… Molecular level study of biology….

I loved biology but was worried about job opportunities after university so I chose to major in biochemistry. Two year in at this point and you’re completely right. However, after organic chemistry I’ve honestly started loving chemistry even more than biology. I’m debating going for a pure chemistry degree now 😵💫
