Its unfortunate that these interviews are basically hit and trial based because mech engg. is too vast a field to remember everything. In fact, this kind of interview promotes rote learning. The interviewer needs to ask the candidate as to what topic he or she are confortable in. The questions should be targetetted in only the student's area of comfort. Rote learning has zero real world advantage.
