And what does crushing cars have to do with construction?😂

  • @Rt27555

Just getting your construction management degree does it really mean much. You better get some real-world experience before you start leading a crew on a project.

  • @Trent12888

What work would you recommend while attending university for a cm degree

  • @harshvardhankhengar

How can a person like me with less than a year experience in construction industry but with CMPT degree get started in canada?

  • @hamonghawj698

This concept applies to all fields. Experience combined with structured knowledge is everything.

  • @CAM62633

I’m 22 with a GC license about to get into college for my CM degree

  • @Jyre_0

I got a cm internship going into my senior year of hs so I’m very excited about that

  • @ThaBeardedVet

My cousin got hired without experience. This statement true then is now false. Work history doesn’t even doesn’t even apply rn. Just get a degree and get the PMP.

  • @ScandleBar

Been in construction my whole life. Pipeline construction the last 4 years. Got accepted to a university last week. Start my CM classes tonight. Too stoked.

  • @leviharper4694

Graduated in CM. Best idea ever. 0 debt, multiple offers, 6-figures out of school. You just have to be okay with people thinking you’re a brick layer and looking down on you because they don’t understand what you’re doing

I have been a Restoration Technician for the past 3 years in South Florida with several IICRC Certifications (WTR/FSRT/AMRT/TCST) as well as Xactimate training and experience (which is the standard estimating tool we use in our industry) and I just think it’s time to get into CM. My current employer is also a GC so I have some experience managing subcontractors in both residential and commercial jobs. I just don’t know if my experience would be enough to get an Assistant Project Manager position at some decent Construction company. I also did 3 years of school, I went for international business but I had to stop school completely at the time and I had to get a full time job. I want to go back and finish my bachelor’s degree, fit it somehow in my schedule. Either finish my degree in finance and start a whole new career or finish it in CM which aligns more with the experience I already have. I’m 24 and planing to propose/start a family soon. So I just want to have a solid career with a good income potential in the long run. I’m also bilingual English and Spanish. Any recommendations are welcome and appreciated!! 👍🏼🤝

As a traveling superintendent for 18 years with only on the job training, I can promise you this! No amount of college is gonna substitute working in the field. Sure, a degree will get you a job! But your real education doesn't start until you lace those boots up.

  • @portalpony477

You just tell me if I work really hard I'll be successful…. G want useful information. I don't really think construction management is exactly the fast track to anything I would say about 90% of those companies are old money.

  • @austinb3560

Kinda misleading. This is all assuming a college student can get a job hundreds if not thousands are also applying for.

  • @Whoisderon

Do construction companies care about visible tattoos?

  • @justinrivera6749

Graduated 5 years ago with a CM degree. Can back this up. We had 95% job placement before graduating with the 2nd highest average starting salary when compared to other majors

  • @Pnk_Rckr

It's actually funny that when I started going back to school a few years ago fresh off a two year stint with a demolition company, my local community college (of a large metropolitan area) was dropping the construction management degree program. I'll still be alright, and I'm probably better off with what I ended up graduating with, but that was incredibly surprising that they were dropping that program. That's one place that shouldn't have dropped a program like that.

  • @Isaacsworlds

How do you get a job ? Im still a freshman in college but I would really like to start working in the field hopefully like my junior year

  • @ramondickens5906

Come to Oklahoma state and attend career fairs. There’s much opportunity in civil with old tech phasing out

  • @crankfotton

this guy sounds like a chick… emotional sounding ekhhhhh.. yeah its in demand because the turnover rate is insane. Delusional thinking, and I doubt he has spent any real time in this field.

  • @RawrPokemonRawr

If you're wanting to work in construction while going to school, look into an apprenticeship too. No student loan debt, hands on experience and minimal school (8 weeks of the year and a job to go back to after).

Skilled trades will be in huge demand. There are lots of people retiring, and not enough apprentices being signed up currently to meet the demand. College isn’t for everyone and you can become a construction foreperson after your apprenticeship. Many employers want experience for these roles, not necessarily a degree.

Get into a trade, take initiative at work to get involved in safety positions and continued training, and train other apprentices. That will also get you into management.

  • @adamrosendahl8090

Don't do it. It's the worst job ever. If I could do it all over again I'd stay so far away from this adversarial industry. 25 years of never ending stress.

    DON'T DO IT!!!

  • @orochimaru3950

What do you guys think about a 34 year old going back to school for CM. I'm at my limit with welding.

  • @isaiahtellez9640

I have my AA in business & electrical apprentice license. I have an interview in 3 days for a PM role. Definitely going to major in that if im hired

  • @VOICEFORFREEDOM1776

I’m an HVAC technician getting by bachelors in CM right now. I’m excited to learn. I’m hungry
