When I washed my face (with a more "brightening" cleanser), my face felt tight at first, but then my oils start to come in and my face feels comfortable again. Maybe I need a cleanser for more normal to dry skin?

The ONLY person to ever tell me that as a combination skin baby it's best to LEARN my skin vrry well AND that combos neednto piece together products for their varied skin type sections. This makes SO much sense!!! Why do dermatologists never tell is this? THANK YOU ❤

  • @tailsmedic9975

I'm trying to figure out my type, but I need some help.

For some back story. I went to get a facial because I get breakouts (like white and black heads and acne), and my skin is sensitive. The lady gave me recommendations and said I have dehydrated oily skin. Now, since I was young, I always thought / was told I had dry skin, so her saying that was kind of weird to me.

I've done the wash my face test my face feels clean, after a while it will feel little uncomfortable like tight but my skin is soft and bearly oily even slightly sticky my face shines after but it also looks bit dull compared to someone with really oily skin.

Sorry for this being so long I'm trying to learn how to take care of my skin, and it's a bit overwhelming, especially because I don't want to waste money on products that won't work. Thank u. If anyone could help give advice, I would appreciate it. ❤

Never had issues and have what you describe as normal skin. Didn’t have skin issues my whole life. Now have hormonal acne in 20s trying to pick up a skincare routine to help. Would be fascinating to see what you recommend for people who just started to worry about a routine “later” in life like myself.

According to this I have dry skin on my cheeks so why do I still get pimples and little acne bumps here? I don’t have rosacea

  • @faysalals1

But I have oily T zone, but the rest of my face is normal, not dry.

  • @maxleong304

woohoo! finally a definitive answer i have been asking for a long time! i now hold the knowledge to find out which skin and product i should prepare myself for. thank you Dr Shereene!

  • @missmo463

My skin produced alllllll the sebum

  • @jjjjssss6368

I used to be oily. After 12 months of roaccutane (and dryer skin) I’m now confused what my skin type is. I think it is combination. For the first time I am having trouble with applying makeup. It sits on the surface of my skin in places and seems to separate out during the day. And sets into fine lines around the eyes and mouth.

    Under eyes seem dry too.

    But no more cystic acne!

I still don’t know what I am! I feel like I’m between oily and combination….. with recurring acne spots on the outer cheekbones/cheeks, forehead and chin. I’m learning so much watching your channel, but not knowing which type I am makes the amount of products you speak about overwhelming to keep track of. I want to keep things simple; cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen, but I’m not sure if I have to treat anything with serums too, and how that “simple” routine changes based on weather and location. Argh! Help!

Currently washing face with water most days, occasionally PanOxyl for the acne (just started doing it on dry skin and oooh that stung), then dabbing witch hazel everywhere and finishing with a coating of Vaseline or castor oil (or whatever lotion I’ve had on hand). Still inconsistent with sunscreen use and need help figuring out that one too. I’ve used a variety of lotions for my hands (i always feel dry) including vanicream, cerave, aveeno, etc, with no real lasting effect. The ones that absorb make me feel dry soon after and like I need to reapply, and the “greasier” ones feel great except for how long it takes to absorb. Driving after applying Vaseline is always fun. LOL.

  • @Georrge._.06

I’m 17 and get consistent acne on my forehead (with the occasional exceptions don’t break the rule pimple somewhere else)
But yet I don’t break out on my nose so I guess im combination 🤷‍♂️

  • @High_Heels_Lady

I just did this skin type test – oh boy, I wanted to scratch my whole skin of 10 minutes after washing it and I was feeling very tight, so I guess I'm dry 🤣 now I have the confirmation for my guessing game the last years! Thank you so much for your insights 🙂 love, that I found your channel and I'm soaking everything up you told us 🙂

  • @serena3104

You’re so insightful, I’ve been mistaking my sensitive skin for a dry skin, this really helped me clarify❤❤

Awesome vid, thanks big sis 🫶🏼

  • @danigrave3436

I always say that my skin is combination, oily T zone but dry and crazy sensitive everywhere else. Literally my skin can react to a bluebottle fart a hundred miles away. On top of that I get hormonal acne and eczema breakouts. Trust me to be the mega awkward one! But I’m learning, all thanks to you! So thank you!

  • @Persefone94

At 52 I am grateful for my oily skin.

  • @gabsterr_s

  • @ankitbishnoi427

ig i have the worst type of skin then. sensitive and combination 😭😭

  • @traybaybay

One complex thing here is I was born with an oily type, but acne internal medication has made it not be oily anymore – in this case, did my type change?

  • @udishnaduarah2148

My T zone is always dry and rest face is okay. What type is it?

  • @agusNS09

What about vascular skin type? Sadly, I can't see many people talking about it
